Mike served not only his community, but his country as well. He served in the Army Military Police and is a Vietnam Veteran, later serving in Special Forces. After his discharge he served in local law enforcement. During those years he served in supervisory, investigative and leadership positions and additional time working with and training foreign military and police. Mike spent four years with the International Justice Mission as Director of Police Training for the Philippine and Cambodian Police in their support of fighting human trafficking.
Mayor: In his tenure as Mayor, Mike worked collaboratively with elected officials at the local, state and federal levels to enhance our Borough, creating the Civil War Trail project and more.
Regional Advocate: Mike worked closely with Hellam Township and Hallam Borough to make an efficient and smooth transition for our Wrightsville Borough Police Officers to join the Hellam Township Police. This transition was critical since Wrightsville was not able to continue funding its own police force. The strategic partnership of Hellam Twp, Hallam Boro, and Wrightsville will benefit from Mike’s experience working across municipalities for the common good.
Trusted Source: In Mike’s time as Mayor, he was considered a trusted source for information about Wrightsville happenings, both for community and local government issues. Residents frequently reached out to him to ask questions, and Mike was always willing to help. If he didn’t know the answer, he found it. He will continue this commitment to residents and businesses.
Goals: Mike wants better communication between Borough officials and the residents about what’s going on in Wrightsville. He envisions this information source linked with the Borough website as a community bulletin.
Mike wants more residents to feel comfortable coming to Council meetings. Disruption of the Council meetings needs to be addressed. When residents don’t attend Council meetings, there is a perception something is broken and nothing’s getting done. It is nearly always a misunderstanding about how the Borough operates, federal, state and local laws, or it is miscommunication. Hearing directly from Council can help clarify Borough policies, budget and activities. Mike’s number one goal is to make sure Wrightsville residents are informed – correctly.
